Oseni Out as Kogi Acting Governor Appoints New Revenue Boss

The Acting Governor of Kogi State, Kolawole Matthew has commenced a cabinet shake-up, as he has appointed a new Revenue Boss to replace Yakubu Oseni at the Kogi State Revenue House.  Oseni is finally bowing out of the revenue house to continue with his political journey as the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) jostling to represent the Central Senatorial District at the Red Chamber.  Ebira Reporters gathered that the Acting Governor, carrying out the instructions of Governor Yahaya Bello who is away in Poland has appointed Aliu Salami as the new Chairman of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service.  Salami before his appointment was the Managing Director of the United Bank of Africa (UBA) in Lake Chad. The three-time winner of the Banker Award hails from the Central Senatorial District of Kogi State.

We Only Shutdown 15 Telecommunications Sites - KGIRS

By Itodo Daniel Sule Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) has denied shutting down 150 telecommunications base stations in the state as recently alleged by the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON). The Director, Legal Services and Enforcement of the agency, Barr. Jamil Isah, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lokoja, explained that only five sites of Airtel and about 10 sites of MTN were sealed for tax defaults following a court order obtained from a state High Court to distrain them. He said the fees demanded from the two telecommunications were legal and backed by law enacted by the Kogi State House of Assembly contrary to the claims made by the telecommunications operators. “The demanded levies, rents and fees are also not illegal. As Kogi Govt Shut Down 150 Base Stations, Outage of Telecoms Services Imminent in Abuja, 10 States

By Emma Okonji There are palpable fears that 10 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, may experience total outage of telecoms services in the next few days, following the shutdown of several base stations by the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service. The affected states, which are sharing borders with Kogi State, are Nasarawa, Benue, Enugu, Anambra, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara and Niger States. The Association of Licensed Telecoms Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), which raised the alarm yesterday in Lagos during a press conference, said as at Friday last week, the number of telecoms sites (base stations) affected was 70, but that as at yesterday, the number of affected sites had risen to 150, and more sites are likely to be affected in the next few days that will lead to total outage of telecoms services in the nine states.
