Kogi Deputy Governor to Resume January 26th

Kogi state government has debunked rumours regarding the status of Deputy Governor, Elder Simon Achuba who was allegedly sidelined in the running of the state. This became imperative amidst curious demands for explanation on why Governor Yahaya Bello handed over to the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Prince Kolawole Mathew instead of his deputy before departing for the Climate Change Summit in Poland. In a press release signed the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Akor Sylvester, announced that the number two man in the state is currently on a two-month long leave. According to Akor, the Deputy Governor proceeded on leave on 26th November and is expected back in office on 26th January, 2019. “This information is necessary to clear the air on the rumour being peddled that the Deputy Governor is not on leave,” he said. Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Elder Simon Achuba has denied reports suggesting that he has defected to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a press statement signed by his chief press secretary, Sylvester Akor, Achuba described the reports as false. He added that if there is any reason for him to defect, “it will not be at the backyard”. “The attention of the office of the Deputy Governor of Kogi State has been drawn to a certain rumour and misrepresentation in a section of the media to the effect that the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Elder Simon Achuba, has defected from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “To put the record straight, that report championed by the online media is not true. Achuba Denies Decamp Rumour

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Elder Simon Achuba has denied media reports alleging that he had dumped the All Progressives Congress and Governor Yahaya Bello for the People's Democratic Party.  Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Sylvester Akor in a statement described the rumour as wicked and mischievous.  According to him, Achuba is still a loyal member of the APC and has no plans to leave as being circulated. Meanwhile, the NigerianPost has reported that the Deputy Governor has had running battle with his boss, with many alleging that the relationship is no longer cordial. The reports stated that Achuba  last collected salary in February, with his impress stopped since March.

Kogi Assembly Speaks on Alleged Plans to Impeach Deputy Governor

Kogi State House of Assembly has denied plotting to impeach the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Elder Simon Achuba. Briefing journalists after Thursdays plenary in Lokoja, the Chief Whip of the House, Honourable Victor Adewale Omofaiye described the speculation as unfounded and shocking. Omofaiye stated that the rumor of planned impeachment of Achuba stemmed from the disruption of Tuesday sitting by one of it members. He explained that the internal wrangling that ensued between members which led to the untimely termination of the House proceeding was purely legislative business. Omofaye maintained that the House was actually deliberating on a bill for a law to provide for the management of funds of Kogi State House of Assembly and for related matters, 2018 which did not go down with some members who think they where not carried along before the bill was put under debate before the sixth Assembly. “It came to the notice of the House that there are speculation on what happened some ...
