Retired Police Officers in Kogi Decry Non-payment of Gratuities

By Itodo Daniel Sule

Retired police officers in Kogi State have appealed to the Federal Government to direct appropriate authorities to pay their gratuities.

The state chairman of the Association of Retired Police Officers, Alex Yusuf, in a statement yesterday, urged Federal Government to direct the Acting Director General of the National Pension Commission, the Inspector General of Police and the Police Pensions Limited to “kindly” make the payments.

The gratuity, according to them, is 300 percent of their gross salary as at the time of retirement; 15 and 33 percent pension increase of 2007 and 2014 respectively.

They referred to a motion by Hon. Wole Oke on the floor of the House of Representatives in 2017 on behalf of the police and paramilitary retirees to exit them from the contributory pension scheme.
